Susan O'Meara, PhD
Sue joined KSR as a Reviews Manager in December 2019. She is a Registered Nurse, previously specialising in coronary care and intensive care, and has also worked in clinical audit.
Sue has been involved in the design, conduct and management of systematic reviews for over two decades. She previously worked as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (University of York, UK) and has also held research and teaching posts in academic departments of the Universities of York and Leeds (UK).
Her research interests include the management of non-healing skin ulcers such as diabetic foot ulcers, pressure ulcers and leg ulcers. In addition, Sue has published systematic reviews in many other topic areas including menorrhagia, cataracts, adult and childhood obesity, childhood enuresis, breast feeding, homeopathy, herbal medicine, prophylactic removal of wisdom teeth and epilepsy. As part of her PhD, Sue conducted the first collaborative individual patient data meta-analysis in venous leg ulcers and later she provided substantive input to the first network meta-analysis in diabetic foot ulcers.
Sue is a member of two Cochrane groups and has been an editor with the Cochrane Wounds Group. In addition to her substantial research expertise, Sue is an experienced teacher and trainer in research methods and evidence-based practice.
