Health Technology Assessment (HTA) evaluates the clinical and economic value of medical technologies, such as drugs, devices and clinical procedures, to answer critical questions such as: ‘When is counselling more effective than drug therapy for depression?’.

To provide clear answers, HTA evaluates four fundamental questions:

  • Clinical Efficacy: Does the technology work?
  • Target Population: For whom does it work best?
  • Cost-Effectiveness: At what cost?
  • Comparative Value: How does it compare to existing alternatives?

Our Proven HTA Experience

  • Extensive Global Portfolio: We have contributed to over 120 HTAs for NICE in the UK, alongside dozens more for key international agencies, including IQWiG (Germany), the FOPH (Switzerland), and the Dutch National Health Care Institute.
  • Diagnostic Leadership: As UK leaders in assessing diagnostic technologies, we have completed 16 diagnostic appraisals for NICE, all of which have been published in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Official Recognition: We proudly serve as a Centre of Excellence for Technology Assessment Reviews for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), directly delivering Technology Assessment Reviews (TARs) to key decision-makers like NICE.
  • HTA Support: As well as carrying out world-class health technology assessment, we offer a range of support services such as training in the methods and the processes of HTA agencies, particularly with relation to NICE methods. This includes organising mock appraisal committee meetings and technical advice for evidence submissions.
