Kleijnen Systematic Reviews Ltd is an independent research company that produces and disseminates systematic reviews and health technology assessments of research evidence in health care. The location of KSR’s offices is in York.

The Posts: 1. Systematic reviewer; 2. Trainee systematic reviewer

Applications are invited for scientists who will have responsibility, as part of a team, for carrying out systematic reviews and health technology assessments of the effects of health care interventions and other health related questions.

Duties of the posts include:

·    Carrying out rigorous systematic reviews of the health care literature and producing reports. Reviews are commissioned from a variety of sources including national and international Departments of Health and health technology assessment agencies. Reviews may be about therapeutic interventions, screening and diagnostic interventions, and also about aetiological or prognosis topics.

·    In response to requests from commissioners, carrying out quick scoping exercises to assess the possible well formulated questions and likely size of systematic reviews and health technology assessments.

·     Participating in the training activities of KSR Ltd as lecturer and tutor.

·     Participating in the dissemination and marketing activity of KSR Ltd. This might involve, for example, representing KSR Ltd at conferences, seminars and other external events. Occasionally, oversees travel will be necessary for meetings or conferences.

KSR Ltd encourages staff to submit papers medical journals, and to conferences and meetings and to keep up to date with their particular disciplinary interests.

 

Person Specification

Post 1. The successful applicants will have good quantitative skills, with a background (at least an MSc or equivalent and preferably a PhD) in a medical or health related or scientific discipline such as medical statistics, epidemiology, health economics or psychology.  Experience of research synthesis/systematic reviews of therapeutic interventions is essential, and of other types of questions (such as diagnosis, prognosis) desirable. You will be first author of at least one published systematic review in a peer reviewed journal. Good communication skills, both oral and written, are also important.

Both posts. We are looking for people who are enthusiastic, committed and able to produce consistently high quality work within tight deadlines. You will be flexible to respond to questions and requests from commissioners on short notice. Some understanding and experience of the health field and the NHS is desirable.
